We’re excited to announce that you can now set relative start dates and deadlines for tasks in Project Workflow Templates. This update gives project managers even more flexibility in scheduling and structuring projects.

How It Works

When configuring tasks in your project workflow templates, you can now choose from the following options for task start dates and task deadlines.

Task Start Date

  • Stage Start: The task’s start date will match the stage start date. This is the default option and the one we recommend.
  • N days after stage starts
    • Specify how many days (or weeks) after the stage start date the task begins.
    • Example: If you set the task to start 3 days after the stage starts, and the project starts on Jan 1, the task will start on Jan 4.
  • N days before stage ends
    • Specify how many days (or weeks) before the stage deadline the task begins.
    • Example: If you set the task to start 3 days before the stage ends, and the stage ends on Jan 31, the task will start on Jan 28.

Task Deadline

Similar to the start date, you can also set relative dates for the task deadline:

  1. Stage Deadline: The task’s deadline will match the stage deadline. This is the default option and the one we recommend.
  2. N days before stage deadline
    1. Specify how many days (or weeks) before the stage deadline the task is due.
    2. Example: If you set the deadline to 3 days before the stage ends, and the stage ends on Jan 31, the task will be due on Jan 28.
  3. N days after stage starts
    1. Specify how many days (or weeks) after the stage start date the task is due.
    2. Example: If you set the deadline to 3 days after the stage starts, and the project starts on Jan 1, the task will be due on Jan 4.

With these new options, you have more granular control over task scheduling in your workflow templates. We hope this feature helps you more efficiently plan and manage your projects with precision and ease.
